Dining table for Zhang Yin & Ratan Tata

The throne-like design of the (right) side of the table (image above) dedicated to Zhang Yin emphasises her high position; one that demands others of their attention so that she may be the focus, or focal point in the space.

The raised platform in the above dining table reflecrs the power often found in the royal courts of kings and queens, where the space in which they sit or inhabit is often looking down on the rest of the court.

The heavy, chunky stone look of the design highlights rigidity and solidity, which conveys the aspect of a person's strength and power, in which a table must be designed to sustain its function without breakage.

The elongated semi-circle design of the dining area dedicated to Ratan Tata and his colleagues are situated on the exact opposite side of where Zhang Yin may dine. The distinct shape of the semi-circle suggests subtly the idea of equality, where one sits will always direct the attention towards one focal point - ie. the end of the table (where Zhang Yin sits).

The simplicity of the design (consisting of only a tabletop and pair of rectangular prism legs) alludes to the lifestyle of Ratan Tata. Stylish, modern and classicly beautiful, it provides a spacious area for good dining and conversing. Although he may be rich and powerful, he will not invest all his wealth into his own comfort, but rather in what is necessary for himself and beneficial for others.

In the above animation, it shows how the table will respond to human touch.
The table is situated slightly below the floor/ground, and will emerge out of the ground to its original height.
